4th of July sales 2023: when they are and what deals to expect

This year's 4th of July sales are just around the corner now and it won't be long until online retailers are posting their deals on everything from cheap TVs to mattresses. We'll be on hand with a roundup of the best deals right here at TechRadar so don't hesitate to bookmark this page ahead of this year's sales.

Generally speaking, we're expecting this year's 4th of July sales to actually start some time in late June, usually around a week or so before the big holiday event. These sales can cover mid-summer classics like cheap grills and patio furniture, as well as big discounts on tech and appliances. For those interested, we've preserved a number of last year's deals at the bottom of this page so you know the kinds of things to expect.

What day is the 4th of July 2022?

4th of July sales 2021

This year the 4th of July falls on a Tuesday, so the federally observed holiday and the majority of sales will be taking place at the start of the week.

As you probably already know, the 4th of July celebrates Independence Day. Specifically it's an annual celebration in the United States to commemorate the passage of the Declaration of Independence that took place on July 4, 1776.

When do the 4th of July sales start?

Based on previous events, we're expecting most 4th of July sales at major retailers to go live a week or so ahead of the official holiday date. This is generally the trend for annual events like the Memorial Day sales, Labor Day sales, and so on.

Usually it's the big appliance retailers like Home Depot, Lowes, and Best Buy that launch their sales first, followed by tech deals specifically closer to the date. Last year's 4th of July sales closely preceded the yearly Amazon Prime Day (July 12-13) so we could potentially see some overlap there.

What are the best 4th of July sales

The 4th of July sales have traditionally been good for deals on summer-related items like grills, patio furniture, planters, and so on. In recent years, however, they've expanded out to cover pretty much anything you'd shop online. If you're looking for cheap appliances, TVs, laptops, and other tech, then you'll have plenty to check out.

The 4th of July is also a fantastic time to find deals on mattresses, with retailers like Casper and Temper-Pedic participating in sitewide sales with free accessories. Home Depot and Lowe's are just a few retailers that will be discounting top-brand appliances all weekend long, and tech retailers like Best Buy and Dell have fantastic deals on laptops, TVs, headphones, and more.

If you'd like to see what kind of items get discounts over the 4th of July sales, then you can check out some of last year's deals just down below, which we've preserved.
